Lia R Art
Rushed Mornings: 18” x 12”
Medium: Colored pencil and Toothpaste
For this project, I wanted to portray brushing your teeth in the morning while being in rush and not focusing on how much toothpaste is used, causing a mess that can't be cleaned up quickly, leaving you panicking. I wanted this project to show that it is still important to pay attention to mundane tasks even if we can complete them on auto-pilot, because there are many small but significant aspects in life that are underappreciated and taken taken for granted.
Mona Lia: 16" x 12"
Medium: Acrylic Paint and Tissue paper
For this project I wanted to present how I see myself and how others see me. I painted myself realistically to show how others perceive me, and I used the ice cream as a metaphor for how I see myself. The ice cream is taller than me and represents how I take on too many tasks that I am not able to complete, causing the ice cream to melt excessively. I also tried to make my expression neutral so it would show how people often see me as composed even when I am stressed. i added a bumble bee writing out my name to fill space and because I have a family nickname of BumbleLia.
